Thursday, Oct 16th will be MUFC Night at Wingate University.  Please join the Wingate women’s soccer team as they host Carson-Newman College in a South Atlantic Conference matchup at 7 PM.  The game will be played at the newly-renovated soccer complex at Wingate University.  The Wingate Lady Bulldogs are 8-4 this Fall and 1-2 in conference, while the Carson-Newman Eagles are leading the conference with a 3-0 conference record and 8-3 record overall.  

At halftime, MUFC teams will scrimmage on the stadium field.

Come out and cheer for the Lady Bulldogs, coached by MUFC Director of Coaching Gary Curneen, and led on the field by MUFC Trainer Lisa Service.   Wingate also has many standout players from Union County and the Charlotte area.  For a full schedule for both men and women’s teams, go to http://sports.wingate.edu. The MUFC Cantona U-11 boys took a break from league play, traveling to Greenville, SC last weekend to attend the CESA Soccer Classic along with over 290 teams from the region.  The boys started with a 0-0 draw on Saturday, but finished group play with 3-0 and 5-1 wins vs two CESA teams.  In the finals, they got a rematch with their first opponent.  After finishing regulation 1-1 and no goals in overtime, the match came down to a penalty kick shootout.  Unfortunately, 3-2 in PK’s. 

A good effort all weekend by the boys.  Congratulations on a great weekend of soccer.

This Labor Day weekend, 9 MUFC teams participated in tournaments in Atlanta and Greensboro.  Four teams made it to the finals of their respective brackets, with three finishing the weekend as tournament champions.
