Matthews USA is pleased to announce the addition of Chip Wiggins to our coaching staff as Girl’s and Boy’s Director of Coaching for U-12 thru U14.
Coach Wiggins coaching experience is highlighted by his three seasons leading the women’s program at
Ottawa
University, a Division II school in
Kansas. Coach Wiggins’s teams posted a 45-15-3 overall record, while capturing two Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) regular season titles, three KCAC postseason tournament titles, and advanced to the NAIA regional tournament in all three seasons, getting to the semifinal round in 2004.
Coach Wiggins has 8 years of collegiate coaching experience as an assistant with the
University of
Maine at Presque Isle (1999-2001),
Wingate
University (1996-98) and Charleston Southern University (1994-95). Wiggins also served as the head girl’s soccer coach and assistant athletic director at the high school level in Lee, Maine, where he led Lee Academy to a 19-1-0 overall record in 2001, with a state championship game appearance.
Wiggins is no stranger to the area having coached club teams while at Wingate and was the Head Coach at Monroe HS for a season.
Wiggins’ holds an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as well as the NSCAA Goalkeeping I and II Diploma. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from the University of Maine-Presque Isle and a master’s degree in sports science from the
