Matthews USA is pleased to announce the naming of Gary as Director of Coaching.  Gary ’s main responsibilities will be to oversee all aspects of the clubs development of the girl’s program from U-11 to U-18. He will also serve as the club’s college recruiting liaison and marketing director.

Coach Curneen is currently in his third year as the head women’s soccer coach at Wingate University and has served as a team trainer with Matthews USA for many years in various age groups (U-9 to U-17). 

Coach Curneen has served as an assistant director in the Olympic Development Program for the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA), directing all aspects of training for U-11 girls.  Curneen served two seasons as assistant men’s soccer coach at Wingate University prior to taking over the reins of the women’s soccer program.

In addition to his coaching duties at Wingate, Curneen possesses an “A” coaching license from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). He also holds the Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
